Teamwork, healthy curiosity, innovation, and a hunger for solving everyday problems were at the core of our Hackathon 2.0. The US Product Development, Platform Services and Quality Assurance teams spent two full days, often in unfamiliar teams, working to tackle challenges our customers and team members can benefit from.
After last year’s successful edition, the US Product Development team put together an internal OMP Hackathon to tackle everyday challenges. In six teams, they brainstormed, ideated, and crafted innovative solutions to real-world problems, working on projects that will help make the lives of customers and colleagues easier.
It all started when some of our senior software engineers identified projects that would bring the most value to our organization and customers. Once the teams began to mingle, ideas were taken to the next level, and teamwork reached a whole new dimension. All the projects chosen called for muscular R&D work, but if the teams could get the results out, many developers at OMP would benefit. And they pulled it off beautifully!
Driven by the OMP commitment to collaboration and excellence, the initiative produced excellent results. Some ideas are implementation-ready, while others lay solid foundations for further development. Some new cloud technologies were tested, the OMP chatbot was enhanced with new features, tools to improve code coverage were investigated, areas affecting code build times were analyzed, and projects from last-years hackathon were readied for production. One overriding thing is clear: the teams made great strides that everyone can welcome.
Aditya, the concept's originator, reflects with pride on the event:
“It’s great to be part of an initiative that allows people to work on something different from their daily tasks. Some participants were placed in unfamiliar teams due to the specific technology skill sets needed, and they all demonstrated remarkable flexibility and adaptability. ‘Thinking outside the box’ took on a whole new meaning with the enthusiasm and energy the teams brought to the event!”
Do you have the kind of passion that makes you want to be part of a two-day hackathon? Then OMP might be the right fit for you.
