Your challenge
As a Team Manager Software Development - Documentation, you’re the leader, coach, and inspiration for a global team of skilled technical writers and trainers.
Your team is your top priority. Are they collaborating efficiently with other team members? Are they well embedded in our different expert teams? Do they get the right opportunities and challenges to develop their skills? Does the team embrace OMP’s values (our 5Ps)?
Your skills, encompassing people and team management, project management, and technical knowledge, ensure the success of your team. You set assignments and share feedback that encourages your team to take things to the next level.
You are responsible for:
- Establishing the team’s mission, strategy, and objectives.
- Managing individuals and your team.
- Recruiting new talent to strengthen our global team.
- Ensuring that our technical writers are well-embedded in our agile development teams.
- Facilitating and coordinating collaboration both within the team and with other teams.
- Identifying opportunities and new technologies to optimize and professionalize our documentation offer and approach in collaboration with our senior technical writers.
- Representing Training and Documentation in company-wide projects and projects involving multiple departments.
Your team
You will be managing a team of around 30 highly skilled technical writers and trainers, embedded in our global product development departments. The team is located in Belgium (Wommelgem, Ghent, and Wavre) and Spain (Barcelona).The team is responsible for the creation and maintenance of training and documentation for our OMP consultants, alliance partners, and customers. Our mission is to ensure high quality content in line with the needs of our target audiences.
Your profile
We are looking for someone who meets the following qualifications:
- A Master’s or PhD in ICT, Engineering, Mathematics, or other relevant field.
- Experience and affinity with the role of technical writers and trainers.
- Team management of a large team (> 10 team members) within a software development organization.
- Detailed knowledge of project management and agile software development.
- Good people management and communication skills that enable you to easily connect with team members, senior managers, and consultants.
- The ability to lead by example, as well as being a natural coach with the skills to steer a team.
- The eagerness to dive into technical details when required.
Bonus points if you have:
- Experience with managing a team of technical writers.
- Technical writing skills.
- Knowledge of supply chain concepts.
