Humble beginnings: flashback to 1985

Imagine a world where personal computers are just making their debut and a group of university friends, among them Georges Schepens, have a bold idea: harness this new technology to make businesses run better. In those early days, their software was simple but groundbreaking, built on academic roots and fueled by experimentation. And so, the nascent OMP began to dabble in various industries, trying out ideas on early systems where every kilobyte counted.

As technology evolved, so did their solution; from cutting optimization towards optimal end-to-end supply planning, demand forecasting and inventory optimization, powered by strong optimization and AI algorithms. At every step they learned something new, gradually sharpening their focus, and setting the stage for the powerful supply chain planning platform Unison Planning™ – a cloud-native, AI-driven platform, trusted by hundreds of companies worldwide today.

Connecting across the globe

This year, CEO Paul Vanvuchelen, is embarking on a global tour of  OMP offices to strengthen personal connections with colleagues and customers. This initiative goes beyond teamwork. It’s about breaking down barriers, understanding challenges, and fostering real collaboration. As OMP navigates rapid growth while staying true to its core values, Paul’s visit reinforces the company’s open, collaborative approach to business, ensuring everyone moves forward together.

Together toward 40

To honor its 40th anniversary, the company is launching a yearlong celebration as a challenge to the OMP worldwide team to band together to take part in an exciting program of activities and celebrations.

Whether it’s 40-kilometer runs with colleagues, 40-day team challenges, or sharing 40 tips for greener offices, every challenge is a chance to bring OMP people closer together, reminding us all why we do what we do.
